The Brownwood Hotel & Spa
We selected The Brownwood Hotel & Spa for a theme few hotels commit to this...
The Delaney Hotel sits in Orlando's Downtown South district, across from the Orlando Health campus and beside the historic Delaney Park it takes its name from, a setting that has little in common with the resort corridors most visitors associate with the city. A 12 million dollar conversion turned a former medical office and restaurant building into a 54 room, four diamond level boutique hotel, addressing demand for a genuine neighborhood stay in a city where that option has historically been scarce.
We selected The Delaney for the specificity of its backers and its building alike. The development team, led by physicians Dr. Tom Winters and Dr. Rebecca Moroose with Greg Allowe overseeing hospitality operations, built a hotel rooted in the neighborhood's own medical and civic history rather than importing a theme from elsewhere in Orlando. In room tablets handle lighting, temperature, housekeeping, and room service requests, and details like GEL mattresses, Nespresso machines, and Bluetooth sound systems push the rooms themselves past what a four diamond rating typically guarantees.
Downtown South sits apart from Orlando's theme park belt, giving The Delaney's guests a city neighborhood instead of a resort campus, with historic Delaney Park and the Orlando Health campus as immediate neighbors. It suits a visitor doing business in the city, attending an event downtown, or simply wanting an Orlando stay that does not require a car ride past several theme park entrances before reaching a hotel room. The surrounding streets carry their own mix of independent restaurants and historic homes, a contrast to the uniform retail strips that line the roads nearer the parks, and it makes a short walk from the hotel more rewarding than the standard airport shuttle view of the city.

Delaney's Tavern occupies 6,000 square feet, a scale that lets it function as a genuine neighborhood restaurant and bar rather than a hotel dining room that empties out once guests check in elsewhere. It gives The Delaney a presence in the district beyond its own rooms, and for guests it means a dinner option that does not require leaving the building or settling for a generic hotel menu.
Rather than concentrate technology in a flashy lobby display, The Delaney puts it to work inside each room: tablets handle service requests, RFID keys manage security, and the GEL mattresses and Nespresso machines handle the parts of a stay that matter most after a long day. It is a quietly practical approach to a four diamond rating, prioritizing what a guest actually touches over what a guest merely sees on arrival.
A development team led by two physicians gives The Delaney a different relationship to its surroundings than a typical hotel brand entry, one grounded in the Orlando Health campus across the street and the civic history of Delaney Park next door. That local grounding shows up in a property built for the neighborhood's own rhythm, not retrofitted from a national chain's template, and it is part of what separates The Delaney from the resort hotels that define Orlando's reputation elsewhere in the city.
