PostHotel Leavenworth - Adults Exclusive
We selected this hotel for its singular commitment to slowing everything down: a family-built, European-inspired...
Twisp sits at the junction of two rivers in the Methow Valley, a few hundred people and a Saturday farmers market in the heart of north-central Washington, and Twisp River Suites occupies the best seat in town for it: eleven suites built along the riverbank, each with a screened porch that puts the water close enough to hear from bed. There is no grand lobby here, no restaurant with a name of its own, just eleven rooms built around one good idea and executed without compromise.
We chose it for the gap between size and comfort: eleven suites is a small property by any measure, but each one comes with a full kitchen, a deep soaker tub, an in-suite washer and dryer, and a fireplace, amenities usually reserved for much larger resorts. The riverside screened porch is the signature, private enough to feel like a cabin rented from a friend rather than a room booked from a chain, and the valley's quiet does the rest. It is the rare small property that does not ask a guest to trade comfort for intimacy.
The Methow Valley is built for people who want to spend a day outside and a night somewhere comfortable, and Twisp delivers both from the same front door. Downtown Twisp, with its art galleries, independent shops, and Saturday Farmers Market, is a short walk from the suites, and the river itself invites an afternoon of floating rather than merely admiring. The valley's trail network, open for hiking in summer and cross-country skiing in winter, extends in every direction from town, and the North Cascades Highway, one of the most scenic drives in the Pacific Northwest, begins its climb not far from Twisp's front door. The valley has long drawn painters and potters as much as skiers, and the town's small gallery scene is proof the audience stayed.

Our Favorite Thing About the Hotel: the fireplace and screened porch combination, built for a valley that cools fast after sunset

Amenities: full kitchens, memory-foam beds, deep soaker tubs, in-suite washer and dryer, EV charging station, spa services
Each suite is built around the same three ideas, repeated with enough consistency to feel like a promise rather than a marketing line. The kitchen is fully equipped, useful for anyone floating the river all day and cooking dinner rather than driving out for it, and it turns a two-night stay into something closer to borrowing a cabin than checking into a hotel room. The soaker tub and memory-foam bed handle the end of the day, and the screened porch, with its river view and a fireplace close by, is where most evenings actually happen, well after the kitchen has been put away.
There is no restaurant on site, and the property does not pretend otherwise: a grab-and-go breakfast bag waits in the suite's refrigerator on arrival, stocked with fresh-ground Blue Star Coffee, a local roaster whose beans show up on menus across the valley, and extra bags are available at the front desk for an early start on the trail or the river. Menus from Twisp's restaurants are kept in every suite, and most of the town's kitchens offer takeout as readily as a table, which suits a valley where the best plans are made the morning of.
This is a property for travelers who already plan to spend their day on the river or the trail rather than at the hotel; it rewards activity more than it entertains idleness. Pets are welcome, which widens its appeal for valley regulars traveling with a dog, and the riverside suites book up fastest in the warmer months, when floating the Twisp is the valley's main event and the North Cascades Highway is open end to end.
